Camping Le Soleil – Argeles sur Mer
Argeles sur Mer is a very popular destination for family camping holidays in France and there is no shortage of campsites and holiday parks to choose from. Where do you go? How do you choose? That is up to you, but we can help by keeping up the reviews and telling you what we think about the campsites that we have visited.
Camping le Soleil is a very popular campsite and following the article about the best family camping holidays in France, we have put together a short review. Camping le Soleil is just on the edge of what is know as Argeles Plage, the beach side resort part with all the bars and restaurants and of course, the beach! It is a great campsite for both young children and the older ones too, there is no shortage of things to keep them amused during your stay!
On site there is a great pool complex and they have been doing a lot of work over the 2012/13 winter to add to and improve this with new slides being installed. There is a nightclub/discotheque on site for the teenagers, and the odd parent that has has a few too many glasses of rose at the BBQ and fancies a dance! They even have the odd foam party in there, but it is sound proofed so if it is not your scene you really shouldn’t be put off by it.
The bar and entertainment area is right next to the beach, but nicely sheltered from any blustery sea winds by carefully placed shrubbery. It has a stage where they put on bands, shows and all kinds of entertainment throughout the summer. I’m not sure if they are still playing but there was a great Dutch/Geordie duo called Bellyfull, they were there a couple of years back and have been playing on the local campsites for a decade or so. There is a restaurant and takeaway on site too for those lazy evenings, when you might have had enough walking around town during the day to be bothered heading back out for dinner.
For the kids and the teens there is so much on offer, and if the campsite don’t arrange it then there will some someone close by that does. Go-carting, scuba diving, jet ski, parascending, you name it you can do it on or close to Le Soleil. Within walking distance there is Luna Park, which is a fun fair type place. I’ve not been on any of the rides myself and have heard mixed reports so take that as you will, there is also a 10 pin bowling ally there.
Over all, Camping Le Soleil is a great place to visit and has been a favorite campsite in the South of France for many years.
