5 star family camping in France – La Sirene
Campsite review – Camping La Sirene, Argeles sur Mer
Today I am going to write a campsite review about a popular 5 star family campsite in the Languedoc Roussillon region of France, Camping La Sirene. I have been to this campsite on a number of occasions both through work and on holiday and it impresses me every time! The large all singing all dancing campsites of France may or may not be your thing, but if they are then you will love it!
It is just on the edge of Argeles sur Mer, walking distance from the golden sand beaches where you can find all the water sports, cafes and bars you would expect to find at a Mediterranean coastal town/resort. The “centre ville” is the old part of the town where the local residents hide from the tourists, well they try. And the port is full of restaurants and the obvious boat trips and excursions.
You can escape the holiday resort feel without having to venture too far at all. Port Vendres is a real working fishing port and the food in some of the restaurants are amazing! I recommend La Cote Vermeille. A seafood special and a bottle of crisp white wine on a sunny day, sitting on their terrace overlooking the port, fantastic! If you like the tourist hot spots then you also have Collioure, a beautiful but busy port town with narrow bustling streets filled with cafes, restaurants and gift shops.
La Sirene itself is a large family campsite with a superb swimming pool complex for the kids to run wild in. It has lifeguards for peace of mind, slides and chutes and all layed out in a tropical lagoon style setting. For older kids and younger adults there are plenty of adventurous options available. Learn to scuba dive in the pool and then go out to sea for some proper dives. You can take part in downhill mountain biking, sea kayaking, wind surfing and horse riding which is all arrange by the on-site and partner activity clubs. For the younger kids you will find a playground and min golf as well as kids clubs run the park themselves and all the tour operators, KeyCamp, Canvas and Eurocamp.
There is a restaurant and takeaway on site and a couple of bars to choose from. The main bar and terrace area serves drinks late into the night and that is where you will also see the evening shows performed. The shows at La Sirene are legendary in the camping world! They put on huge performances including some of your West End favourites like Grease, The Lion King, Chicago and many more. That alongside the local acts and bands that play, gives you plenty of exciting evening entertainment. There is also The Pub, which is the onsite night club for the teens and young adults (or brave older adults!.
The general feel to the campsite is great, with its palm trees and tropical plants all around the place it just puts you right in that holiday mode!
I personally love the Languedoc region, you get the best of all worlds with the sea, mountains and Spain just on your door step if you fancy a quick border hop, or even a day trip to Barcelona! It is nowhere near as busy as the Cote d’Azur and nowhere near as expensive either!
I hope this campsite review gives you a little more information about the park and the area. You can see more about the campsite here in our Camping La Sirene guide page.
