What’s this website all about?
Camping in France has been a popular choice of holiday for decades, to many it is more of a passion. There is something about living outdoors, whether it be under canvas or in a mobile home, lodge or even a tree house, you just can’t beat an early evening BBQ with a nice glass of wine or cold beer. France is a beautiful country and “most of it” benefits from a regular summer, unlike the unpredictable summers we get here in the UK! The French certainly know how to do camping too!
The choice of campsites, facilities and accommodation types has grown substantially over the years. Back in the day it was all about packing the car up with your tent or hitching the caravan up and heading off for a ferry ride and a very long journey. Then the tour operators came along and changed it all, companies like Eurocamp and Canvas Holidays, the longest running camping tour operator of them all. This meant you could get in your car without hitching up the caravan, or even packing your tent because they did it all for you. Just arrive, unpack and relax! Then the era of cheap flights came along, which meant you didn’t even need to drive!
In recent years innovative ideas for accommodation types have been popping up all over the place. With luxury lodges, Yurts, Pods, Gypsy Caravans and even Tree Houses to pick from we are spoiled for choice! Facilities on the campsites and holiday parks have come a long way too. From swimming pools to modern aqua parks, from a local cover band to full stage productions, every aspect has grown amazingly!
Fear not, its not all change!
Of course, for the “old school” campers among us there are still many traditional campsites to choose from. Some have not changed much at all over the years apart from the necessary modernisation of general facilities. Little gems that feel like your very own little secret in France. At CampinginFrance.info we aim to cover it all.
You will find information and guides to it all right here. We will be adding more information weekly, sometimes daily, so sign up to the website and newsletters to keep up to date and involved.
Be part of our community
We want to provide a place of information, interest and most of all a community of campers from all over who wish to share their knowledge and experience of camping in France. As well as our general guides and information pages for campsites and holidays in France, we will be publishing reviews and personal experiences about campsites and places in France that we have actually visited ourselves. Every review you read will be written by our team of contributors who have all been taking camping holidays and/or actually worked on the campsites themselves, so everything is first hand.
